House Rules and Policies
We are excited for your stay with us! A few rules and policies keep everything running smoothly and help us keep the lights on at the end of the day.
House Rules
Minimum Stay
A three-night minimum stay is required for all online bookings. Bookings less than three nights to be made directly with management and may incur additional cleaning fees, per availability.
Check In and Check Out times
Check in time is 4PM to 9PM. You may drop off luggage etc prior to 4PM, but due to cleaning times and staffing allowance your room may not be ready upon your arrival. If you need a later arrival, please call ahead and let us know.
Check out time is 11AM. You must remove your items from your room, but you may store them in a designated location until your departure. Guests are welcome to respectfully enjoy shared spaces until their flight departure.
Booking
Reservations will be made at the time of booking and 25% of the total will be charged at that time. The remaining balance due will be automatically billed to the card on file 7 days prior to arrival. We recommend purchasing travel insurance as we do not offer refunds after this point.
Deposits
25% of the total is due at the time of booking and will be charged to the guest's credit card.
Changes to your reservation
Changes to your reservation may be made 30 days prior to your arrival assuming a room(s) is available to meet your request. If no room is available, the changes will not be possible. We reserve the right to deny requests if we feel the request is unreasonable or nefarious in any way.
Cancellations
If you must cancel your reservation, call or email us at least 45 days prior to your arrival date (60 days prior to arrival if entire lodge is booked) A refund of your deposit less a $25 service fee and/or 4% credit card processing fee (whichever is greater) will be applied.
If you call or email less than 45 days (or 60 days as noted above) no refund will be made but we can apply your deposit toward another stay. Stay must be booked to arrive within the same reservation year. A confirmation receipt of your cancellation notice must be received for cancellation to be valid.
If you cancel 7 days or less before your arrival, the entire trip will be charged to the credit card on file and no refund will be made. We recommend buying travel insurance for your trip to avoid any unexpected expenses.
No Shows
No Shows will be billed for the entire stay to the credit card on file if you have not cancelled according to the time limits listed above. No refunds will be made. We recommend buying travel insurance for your trip to avoid any unexpected expenses.
Airport Shuttle
Airport shuttles are available provided our staffing levels allow, but are not guaranteed. You must request a shuttle 7 days prior to your arrival date. If we do not have a shuttle available, we will provide you with local taxi information.
Shared Spaces
The shared areas (bathrooms, living area, dining room, and kitchen) are available for all main lodge guests, please be mindful of others when utilizing the shared spaces.
There is one full bathroom located on the main floor down the hallway on the right. There is a second bathroom on the bottom floor, down the stairs and to the left. These are shared bathrooms for all main lodge guests.
The kitchen is through the main doors and to the left. This kitchen is available for all main lodge guests’ use. You may use the refrigerator to store your groceries that need to stay cold. Please be mindful of other guests' need for space.
Main Lodge Guests are defined as guests with reservations in the following rooms : Bear Den Suite, Moose Tracks, Eagles Nest, Wolf Den, Steelhead Run
Guests with reservations ONLY in the 3 Bedroom Apartment do not have access to shared indoor spaces. The 3 Bedroom Apartment has its own refrigerator, kitchen, living area with tv, private restrooms, and outdoor space. 3 Bedroom Apartment guests are welcome to sit on the big deck, but we politely request you do not enter the main space unless seeking help from the lodge host.
Guests with reservations ONLY in the Bay View Suite do not have access to shared indoor spaces. The Bay View Suite has its own refrigerator, kitchen, living area with tv, private restrooms, and outdoor space. Bay View Suite guests are welcome to sit on the big deck, but we politely request that you do not enter the main space unless seeking help from the lodge host.
Smoking
All our rooms are non-smoking, as is the lodge itself to include all areas around the house. We can direct you to outdoor locations where you may smoke. If you smoke in your room, there will be a $250 cleaning charge.
Also, please refrain from burning candles or incense on the property.
Quiet Hours
Our quiet hours are from 10PM to 7AM. Please do your best to reduce excessive noise that will interfere with other guests’ experience.
Communications
We offer use of our landline phone with voicemail and free local calling to all guests, and you are welcome to give out our landline phone number as a contact point. 907-784-3193
Cell phone coverage is not reliable in Yakutat. Verizon has limited to no service, AT&T provides limited coverage. Starlink internet is complementary to use on site, dependent on weather.
Tax
Includes Alaska Bed/Room Tax of 8% plus a Sales Tax of 5%.
If your agency is tax exempt, please provide us with a tax exemption ID and be sure that the organization is directly paying for the reservation. Personal payment unfortunately does not qualify in the State of Alaska.
Rental Policies
See below for full rental agreement contract. By scheduling a vehicle or boat rental, you are agreeing to the terms and conditions stated in these contracts.
Fuel Surcharge : If vehicles or watercraft are returned and the fuel tank is not full, there will be a $20/gallon refueling fee plus a $20 convenience charge.
Cleaning Surcharge : Vehicles or watercraft must be returned clean and in similar condition as when first rented. In the event that the vehicle requires cleaning, the renter will be charged a $50 cleaning fee
Vehicle Rental
Yakutat on the Bay Vehicle Rental Agreement
In consideration of the rental fee paid with the above guest’s reservation to Yakutat on the Bay Lodge, (herein after referred to as “YBL”) agrees to rent to the Registered Guest, described above, (herein referred to as “the Renter”) the Vehicle. By signing this Vehicle Rental Agreement, (herein referred to as “the Agreement”) along with its associated Waiver of Liability, Hold Harmless, and Indemnification Provisions (this “Agreement”), the renter acknowledges and agrees with, and represents to YBL as follows:
The Vehicle is suitable for the purpose for which it is rented and that all fuel tanks are full. Vehicle must be returned with all fuel tanks FULL. In the event the tanks are not full when the Vehicle is returned, the Renter will be charged $20 per gallon to fill said tanks plus a $20 refueling fee. The Vehicle must be returned clean and in a similar condition as when first rented. In the event the Vehicle requires cleaning, The Renter will be charged a $50 cleaning fee.
The Renter is familiar with the safe operation of the Vehicle being provided for the Renter’s use by YBL pursuant to this Agreement. The Renter further represents that he/she is familiar with and will comply with all rules and practices customarily applicable to, and/or prescribed by the YBL, the State of Alaska, for the safe operation of the Vehicle. The Renter agrees to comply with all federal, state, and municipal laws and regulations applicable to the use of the Vehicle including but not limited to the use of Alcohol or drugs while operating the Vehicle. The Renter represents to YBL that he/she is not aware of any physical or medical condition which might endanger the Renter or anyone else while using the Vehicle.
The Renter understands that the only person(s) authorized to participate in the use of the Vehicle is/are person (s) who Release and Hold Harmless YBL from all Liability which is part of this agreement. Renter further understands that the only person(s) authorized to operate the Vehicle is/are over eighteen years of age and is/are competent to operate the Vehicle. The Renter agrees that he/she is responsible for ensuring that anyone who operates the Vehicle will do so in a careful and prudent manner in accordance with the terms of this Agreement. The Renter agrees that the Vehicle will not be occupied at any one time by a greater number of persons than is allowed by the Vehicle’s capacity.
The Renter or any operator will carry a valid Driver’s License with them while utilizing the Vehicle in accordance with all federal, state, and municipal laws and regulations.
The Renter agrees to return the Vehicle on the Return Date by YBL check out time. In the event the vehicle is not returned on the date specified herein, The Renter agrees to pay a late return fee of $50 for every 30 minutes late.
The Renter agrees that if the Vehicle is returned early, no refund of rental fees will be made unless 1) the return was due to a malfunction of the Vehicle which made it unusable and the malfunction was not caused in any way by Renter, and YBL was unable to replace it with a useable Vehicle or 2) YBL is able to immediately rent said Vehicle for the time remaining in the Agreement. The Renter agrees to report any accident, malfunction or breakdown of rental Vehicle to YBL immediately.
The Renter authorizes and will allow YBL to charge the Renter’s credit card for late return, Equipment loss, damage, fuel, or cleaning fees necessary to pay for damages to or loss of Vehicle at replacement costs. The amount available on the balance of the credit card shall in no way be considered a limitation on the amount of damages, reimbursements, or rental charges owed to YBL by the Renter.
Waiver of Liability, Hold Harmless, and Indemnification Provisions
The Renter acknowledges his/her responsibility for the safe and proper operation of the Vehicle, and for the safety and welfare of others, persons, and passengers. It is AGREED AND UNDERSTOOD BY the Renter that YBL shall not be held liable for damages, inconvenience or time loss caused by accident, breakdown, or malfunction of the rental Vehicle.
Renter FUTHER AGREES to indemnify and hold harmless YBL and its agents, affiliates, and personnel from, and against any and all claims for loss of or damage to property or injury to persons (including death) resulting through the use, operation, or possession of said rental Vehicle.
The Renter further agrees to hold YBL harmless should loss or damage occur to any Renter’s personal property while carried in, or on, the rental Vehicle, including loss or damage by fire, water, theft, or any other causes whatsoever.
By agreeing to the Terms and Conditions the parties to this agreement accept this Supplemental Waiver and Release of Liability Agreement which is made part of this agreement.
Renter expressly agrees to indemnify and hold YBL and its agents, affiliates and personnel, harmless of, from and against any and all loss, cost, damages, attorney fee and/or liability in connection with the enforcing of the forgoing rental Agreement by YBL, including expenses incurred in connection with attempting to collect delinquent rent or other charges and in the event of suit by YBL, to recover possession of said rental property and/or to enforce any terms, conditions and/or provisions hereof. It is understood and agreed that YBL and any action hereunder shall be in the county of YBL.
If any provision or part of a provision of this Agreement shall be determined to be void or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, the remainder of the Agreement shall remain valid and enforceable by any party.
THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THIS AGREEMENT AND THE INCLUDED WAIVER OF LIABILITY, HOLD HARMLESS, AND INDEMIFICATION PROVISIONS CONTAIN THE ENTIRE UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN THE RENTER AND YBL AND NO OTHER REPRESENTATION OR INDUCEMENT, ORAL OR WRITTEN, HAS BEEN MADE WHICH IS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS AGREEMENT.
I ACKNOWLEDGE HAVE READ ALL PAGES OF THE AGREEMENT, AND FULLY UNDERSTAND THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS AS SET FORTH ON BOTH SIDES.
A COPY OF THIS AGREEMENT WILL BE MADE AVAILABLE TO ME UPON REQUEST.
Watercraft Rental
Watercraft Rental Agreement
In consideration of the rental fee paid with the above guest’s reservation to Yakutat on the Bay Lodge, (herein after referred to as “YBL”) agrees to rent to the Registered Guest, described above, (herein referred to as “the Renter”) the Watercraft and equipment described herein, (a supplemental list of equipment “the Equipment” will be attached to and made part of this Agreement if necessary). By signing this Watercraft Rental Agreement, (herein referred to as “the Agreement”) along with its associated Waiver of Liability, Hold Harmless, and Indemnification Provisions (this “Agreement”), the renter acknowledges and agrees with, and represents to YBL as follows:
The Watercraft and Equipment is suitable for the purpose for which it is rented and that all fuel tanks (if any) included in the rental are full. Watercraft must be returned with all fuel tanks FULL. In the event the tanks are not full when the Watercraft is returned, the Renter will be charged $20 per gallon to fill said tanks plus a $20 refueling fee. Watercraft must be returned clean and in a similar condition as when first rented. In the event the Watercraft requires cleaning, The Renter will be charged a $50 cleaning fee.
The Renter is familiar with the safe operation of the Watercraft being provided for the Renter’s use by YBL pursuant to this Agreement.
The Renter further represents that he/she is familiar with and will comply with all rules and practices customarily applicable to, and/or prescribed by the YBL, the State of Alaska, and the U.S. Coast Guard for the safe operation of the Watercraft. The Renter agrees to comply with all federal, state, and municipal laws and regulations applicable to the use of the Watercraft including but not limited to the use of Alcohol or drugs while operating the Watercraft.
The Renter represents to YBL that he/she is not aware of any physical or medical condition which might endanger the Renter or anyone else while using the Watercraft.
The Renter acknowledges that they have a copy of the Alaska Boating Handbook (or other applicable state or federal boating safety guide) that has been made available to the Renter by the applicable state or federal agency and agrees to share this information with all persons who ride in or operate the Watercraft.
The Renter understands that the only person(s) authorized to participate in the use of the Watercraft is/are person (s) who Release and Hold Harmless YBL from all Liability which is part of this agreement.
Renter further understands that the only person(s) authorized to operate the Watercraft is/are over eighteen years of age and is/are competent to operate the Watercraft.

The Renter agrees to familiarize everyone who participates in the use of the Watercraft with a chart of the area of use, and to remain informed about weather conditions in that area.
Renter agrees to operate the Watercraft only in the area covered by this agreement which is/are as follows:
SALTWATER AREAS IN MONTI BAY
The Renter authorizes and will allow YBL to charge the Renter’s credit card for late return, Equipment loss, damage, fuel, or cleaning fees necessary to pay for damages to or loss of Watercraft and Equipment at replacement costs.
